Tele2 and Cygate to provide a mobile solution for Stockholms läns landsting – gives personnel access to information anytime and anywhere
Cygate and Tele2 sign an agreement with Stockholms läns landsting – The Stockholm County Council - for a mobile solution that gives access to information and applications. Clinical- and nursing staff, politicians and administrative staff will get improved and more flexible access to necessary information, irrespective of where they are. The order value for this part of the agreement, “safe access to SLLnet”, is initially 3 MSEK. Tele2 is the main supplier and delivers the service together with Cygate.
In order to create a safe and efficient IT environment in the county council, the client based VPN solution has been replaced by a clientless VPN. The new solution for safe access to information provides the emergency medical care teams and the mobile teams with improved access to necessary information, irrespective of where they are, thereby enhancing the services for the patients. For example the doctors on duty are able to reach critical information such as test results and pictures from their homes and can thereby make diagnoses more quickly and efficiently. Thanks to increased mobile access the care is also more efficient at house calls since the doctors have full access to the patients’ journals as well as other relevant information.
The new solution gives the users the possibility to access their systems from a device of their choice such as a PC, PDA or a mobile phone. The multi access functionality chooses the best connection, for example 2G/3G, ADSL, LAN or WLAN, that is available for the specific time. The device may also change between different connections in order to optimize a continuous connection for the user.
For the IT staff the solution provides a simpler and more flexible administration as well as a safer environment for distance working personnel and mobile devices. It includes greater control over the users and their authorization to access resources that are common for the county council. Individual profiles and profiles for different user groups further enhance the security and the control.
“The new solution gives our users a safer and more flexible access to the communication platform SLLnet. It creates opportunities for providing more effective medical services. Specialists now have better ways to communicate with the hospitals when working from a remote location,” says Anne Serving, Director of Communication and Infrastructure, the central IT department at Stockholms läns landsting.
“Stockholms läns landsting is at the cutting edge of using IT to optimize their operation. We have earlier been entrusted with the task of implementing SSL’s communications infrastructure and are now developing and refining the functionality. Later on we hope to provide the solution to the other 40 000 people at the county council,” says Bengt Lundgren, CEO at Cygate.
At first the solution provides approximately 2 500 users at the county council remote access to information and applications. The agreement extends to the end of December 2006.
